Young and old to battle it out
The cream of the crop from Bermuda?s current men?s tennis players and some of the best from years gone by will clash again this weekend in the annual Over 35s versus Under 35s Doubles Tournament.
The event gets underway at the WER Joell Stadium on Sunday at 4 p.m. with several of the Island?s leading players expected to play some part in the contest, which features a series of seven doubles matches.
The Over 35s team will be picked from the following players: Michael Way, Ricky Mallory, David Lambert, Earl Leader, Brian Way, Stuart Smith, Alec Anderson, Jerome Bradshaw, Roger Marshall, Courtland Boyle, David Jenkins, Chris Harris, Eldon Daniels, Steve Bean, Andrew Kennedy, Mark Cordeiro, Colie Place, Vernal Davis, Price Lowenstein, Blair Rance, Graham Boyle, Johnny Johnston, Nick Frost, Johnny Moore, Martin Zolnai, Bruce Robinson and Karl Roberts, and skippered by Stuart Smith.
Bill Way will captain the the Under 35s team which will be picked from: James Collieson, Andy Bray, Jenson Bascombe, Gavin Manders, Jovan Whitter, Romar Douglas, David Thomas, Jacob Trott, Tony Thompson, , Chris Watson, John Wardman, John Masters, Naim Azhar, Johnny Holland, Fraser Moore, McKenzie Bean, Ryan Swan, Daniel Miller, Andrew Watson, and Kris Frick.
In recent years, the veteran players have held the upper hand, winning five times between 1995 and 2000.
The match was tied 3-3 in 2001, the Over 35s won again, 5-2, in 2002, while the Under 35s rebounded to win 6-1 in 2003.
