Still no arrests in Fubler murder probe

Police investigating the murder of a Bermudian in Jamaica say no arrests have yet been made and that officers are still in the process of reviewing the evidence.

Vaughn Fubler, 56, from Devonshire, was asleep when an intruder shot him in the back of the neck on January 25, according to Jamaican Police.

It is believed his 32-year-old Jamaican girlfriend, Sherene Henry, was killed seconds later when she was shot in the back following a brief struggle.

The murderer then escaped before the bodies were discovered in the home in the quiet St. Mary's District in northern Jamaica by Mr. Fubler's caretaker on Monday at 9 a.m.

Deputy Supt. Robert White of the Jamaican Police said the investigation is ongoing.

"No arrests have been made so far," he said. "We are still going over the evidence."

Beyond this, Dept. Supt. White did not want to comment on a possible motive for the murders.

Mr. Fubler was a well-liked and respected employee at the Shell Gas Station on St. John's Road, Pembroke who loved to spend many hours deep sea fishing in his boat.

He had recently gone to Jamaica where he was building a home.
