illegal player in their May 7 Commercial Cricket League match.

The game at Shelly Bay ended in a tame draw but this week a Commercial League committee awarded the full 10 points to Village because Ben Alexander, who played in the match, had appeared for Premier Division side Young Men's Social Club the previous month, breaking Commercial rules.

The additional five points move Village up to joint second with St. David's, five points behind leaders Forties.

Safeguard, who have since lost three games in a row, are now joint bottom with Pembroke United with no points. Both clubs rejoined the league this season after a break.

The committee amended the rules for transfers and also scrapped player registration.

Players who want to move from one Commercial League club to another will be able to do so -- provided they get their captain's permission to leave.

Premier players who want to switch to the Commercial League must miss two matches after applying.

In both cases the transfers will only be allowed if applications are made to league secretary Dave Carruthers during the first half of the season.
