Big-hitter Janeiro cleans up

Janeiro Tucker walked off with the lion's share of trophies plus prizes with a cash value of thousands of dollars, when Somerset Cricket Club, Inc, held its 2008 Cup Match presentation.

He cleaned up for his two half centuries ¿ 75 and 69 not out ¿ in this year's drawn match at Somerset where he made history by becoming the first Somerset player to score an aggregate of more than 1,000 runs in Cup Match.

Janerio is seen below with his two greatest fans and admirers, his new bride Nolette and his mother Belinda. Younger fans and family are Jaz Ratteray Smith, Jadan Ratteray Smith and Jya Ratteray Smith. Jaz, incidentally, is captain of Bermuda's Under 13 football team.

Somerset president Richard Scott and his management committee went all out to make last week's presentation a memorable event. They involved not only the Cup Match team, but their Colts Cup Match players as well.

The awards were presented by the Sports Minister El James.

A number of the cricketers were unable to attend, some being abroad in school.

Colts seen above with the senior awardees included Greg Maybury, captain, Marico Bassett, Donovan Burgess, Cofield Robinson, Joshua Gilbert, Deunte Darrell, Kavon Fubler, Kamal Bashir, Shaquille Bean, Jordan Richardson, Kirt Brown and Justin Corday.

Cup Match members were Jacobi Robinson and Hasan Durham, captain and vice-captain respectively; three colts, Ricardo Brangman. Jordan DeSilva and Chris Douglas; Del Hollis, Malachi Jones, Azeem Pitcher, Sammy Robinson, Dion Stovell, Janeiro Tucker and reserves Deunte Darrell and Kevon Fubler.
