Bank one-year high

More than half-a-million dollars worth of shares were traded on the Royal Gazette/ Bermuda Stock Exchange on Friday, with Bermuda Commercial Bank the biggest mover as its share price jumped $2.50 (25 percent) after 1,000 shares were traded.

The bank?s shares closed the day at $12.50, a one-year high, as the Exchange ended 19.67 points higher (0.39 percent) on 5.012.41.

Trading in the financial sector proved popular as 6,248 shares in Butterfield Bank were also exchanged, although there was no change to the closing price of $57.00.

Bermuda Aviation Services saw a five cent (0.8 precent) increase in the value of its shares to $6.30 on the strength of 1,000 shares being traded.

There was also trading in the insurance sector with 3,500 shares in BF&M changing hands but not altering the closing price of $18.50, nor was there any change in the value of Argus Group shares at $14.50, although 457 shares were traded on the Exchange during the day.

The value of shares in Bermuda companies traded was $447, 014.25, and there was also trading on US shares valued at $92,431 reported by the BSX.
