Tea parties for the elderly

`Honouring Our Elders, Bermuda, the Last 100 Years' will take place this week.A tea party will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Bermuda Cathedral Church Hall on Church Street in Hamilton.

A tea party will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Bermuda Cathedral Church Hall on Church Street in Hamilton.

The final tea party will take place on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Church Hall.

The popular tea parties are free to all seniors. To reserve a spot 292-9447.

*** The network for business women in Bermuda, the Women in International Trade-Bermuda, presents a one-day conference this Saturday.

The New Millennium: A Time For New Beginnings, will focus on professional, personal and techno-legal development.

The conference will take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sonesta Beach Hotel in Southampton.

*** The Bermuda Zoological Society will host its annual open house, known as Zoo Doo, this Saturday at the Bermuda Aquarium.

Zoo Doo Day kicks off at 10 a.m. and will feature North Rock Exhibit Dive talks at 11 a.m., 1.15 and 3 p.m. as well as an exhibit on Australia.

Visitors will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Macaw and children will be able to watch videos in the classroom or participate in arts and crafts.

Families can take advantage of the Peacock's pantry to purchase lunch or snacks.

Admission to the Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo will be free.

*** King's-Edgehill School, in Nova Scotia, Canada, will hold its `Reunion of the 50's' next month.

The reunion will take place June 25, 26 and 27 in Windsor, Nova Scotia.

*** Hawkins Island will host a Bacardi Sunday Beach Jam each Sunday of the summer between noon and 6 p.m.

Bermuda Island Cruises' vessel the Sea Puddin' will make hourly trips from Albouy's Point to the island and back.

Food will be available on the island along with beach facilities, volleyball, kayaks and kite-skis.

And a live band will perform every afternoon at 4 p.m. Cost for the ride out and back is $15 and food and activities are separate.

Tea time: Locals and visiting seniors enjoy the tea and a snack at the first Afternoon Tea, on May 11, in honour of the 1999 exhibition `Honouring Our Elders, Bermuda, the Last 100 Years' currently on display at The Bermuda Cathedral Hall in Hamilton. The second-last tea will take place this afternoon at 2 p.m. and the final tea will take place on Friday at 2 p.m.
