Mallory moves into Open semis
his matches in becoming the first to advance to the semi-finals of the Pomander Gate Open over the weekend.
It was a busy holiday for Mallory, who was involved in three affairs -- two singles and one doubles.
He started with two straight set wins over Eric Pengelly and Martin Zolnai, before teaming up with Steve Bean to down promising 14-year-old Daniel Miller and teaching professional Mackie Simmons.
Zolnai had earlier produced a major surprise in downing high seed Nick Frost, who was forced to retire during the second set.
Other action in Men's A Division saw James Collieson and Mike Curry each record comfortable wins.
Meanwhile, in Men's B Division play Stan Smith stunned third seed Mike Levon, while Derek Smith emerged triumphant following a three hour marathon against Rob Eastham.
In women's play, Pomander Gate professional Kim Simmons defeated Brenda Harrison and Debbie Darrell downed Diane Olchowick to set up a semi-finals clash.
