The 54-hole event was curtailed by the weather with most teams only getting in 46 holes. Taken on the only round that was completed by all the teams, the second, Jones and his team were declared winners of the four-ball two-best-ball tournament, which involved 17 teams.

They amassed a net total 132 to finish two strokes ahead of Craig Marseilles, a regular Bermuda visitor, and his team of Joe Orgill, Luis Amaro and Sean Slowey.

Five other Bermuda teams participated with Steven DeCosta and his team of Dennis Fagundo, John Pereira and Lorraine Pereira finishing seventh. They had a 143 to finish 11 strokes off the pace. Cornell Bean, Alan Correia, Malcolm Lowe and Fritz Reiter were ninth on 144; JJ Madeiros, John Faries, Joseph Perry and Joseph Repose were 12th on 148, the same score carded by Dwayne Pearman, Brian Foster, William Madeiros and Karl Madle. In 17th were Leo Custodio, Jerry Faries, Jose Gerardo and Lenny DeSilva on 169.

A pro tournament, won by Marseilles, saw Pearman finish third and Jones sixth.

SCHOOLS SP SOC HOC ATH Birchfield School returned to the UK on Tuesday after their first sports tour of Bermuda.

The English prep school started the tour with a loss to hosts Saltus in soccer. They reversed this by defeating co-hosts Warwick Academy. The visitors then took part in an informal track meet and also had two hockey games against a newly-formed Bermuda junior select team. Birchfield lost one game and drew the other.

Last weekend the youngsters were involved in cricket, defeating Warwick Academy by two wickets and then losing to Saltus by four wickets. The tour was rounded out with a soccer game against a combined Saltus and Warwick Academy team, won 1-0 by the hosts.

The visiting school's girls team, from the Minster School in Leominster, Herefordshire, are still on the Island. They started their tour by defeating BHS in a hockey match and the next day lost to a local club team. They then defeated Saltus 2-0.

In netball games, the visitors beat Berkeley and drew with BHS.

SNOOKER SNO Paul Charleton led Old Colony Club I to the league championship as they defeated their second team 4-0. Charleton had a 32 break to defeat Dennis Coyle in his match. Robert Gaglio, Tyler Moniz and Dave McLean also won for the champions.

Meanwhile, in the Bermuda singles open, four players have advanced to the semi-finals.

Steven Dunleavy defeated Bill Wotton and will meet team-mate Reuben Burchall in one semi-final. The other semi-final will feature current champion Stephen Roberts, who got by Paul Charleton, against team-mate Chance McLean, who beat Mike Wood in the quarters.

The Bermuda Open doubles will feature semi-final matches between Roberts and Paula Madeiros against Charleton and Gaglio, and Dunleavy and Burchall facing Steve Bremar and Jay Robinson.

TENNIS TEN The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association's April Weekend Junior Tournament will take place at the Tennis Stadium and other locations from april 17-19. The event is open to boys and girls, 12 and under and 18 and under singles.

Entry forms are available at the Tennis Stadium, Pomander Gate, Coral Beach, Port Royal and BLTA office and must be returned to the Tennis Stadium by April 14.
