What Grade 3 means

The Somers Playhouse at 37 Wellington Street in St. George’s is a grade three Listed Building which means it is protected from some alterations and generally restricted from demolition. Grade three is the most lenient of the protection categories. The definition is below:
“Grade 3 refers to buildings, structures or groups of buildings which serve Bermuda as an important visual amenity and are of such architectural or historical value that alterations or additions should normally be carried out in sympathy with the structural and decorative style dominant in the existing structure.”Source: Development Control Guidance Notes, July 17, 2003.
