Island cricket honours have gone West

West Pembroke Primary are the kings of primary-school cricket in Bermuda.They defeated West End by eight runs at Shelly Bay field yesterday in a tight and very exciting final of the Bermuda Schools' Sports Federation Primary Schools' Nine-A-Side competition.Batting first, the winners scored 83 all out on the last ball of their 20 overs. Dante Leverock led the way with 29 while Romar Simmons chipped in with 14 and Rico Trott, 12. Matthew Spring took two wickets for 14 runs.

They defeated West End by eight runs at Shelly Bay field yesterday in a tight and very exciting final of the Bermuda Schools' Sports Federation Primary Schools' Nine-A-Side competition.

Batting first, the winners scored 83 all out on the last ball of their 20 overs. Dante Leverock led the way with 29 while Romar Simmons chipped in with 14 and Rico Trott, 12. Matthew Spring took two wickets for 14 runs.

In their reply, West End managed 75 all out off 19.2 overs, with Kyle Fraser scoring 18 and Michael Hudson 12. Romar Simmons took three for 18 and Skyah Furbert, two for eight.

Rico Trott, who took a number of stunning catches, was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for West Pembroke while wicket-keeper, Alton Roberts, was West End's MVP.

National Cricket Coach Mark Harper was invited to make the award presentations after the match.
