Kyme in what promises to be a marathon battle in the OBM International Graded
The Island's two Commonwealth Games representatives in Malaysia last year will face each other on Tuesday evening in the Men's A Division, which promises to be one of the strongest squash round robin contests the Island has seen.
Later in the week, both champions will test the skills of overseas challengers Paul Ansdell of the US, Duleep Adhihetty of England, and Australian Murray Russell.
The tournament has attracted a record entry of 175 players this year, including 12 from abroad. The players will be divided into six men's divisions, four women's divisions and three junior divisions.
OBM have sponsored two players to fly to Bermuda for the event. Marlene West, of the Cayman Islands, won the National Closed championship to secure her place, while Andy Parr, from the British Virgin Islands, triumphed in a local handicap tournament.
West will be pitched against several Bermuda Ladies A division players, including club champion Janine Keeble. This encounter will take place on the final day of competition next Sunday at 4.00 p.m.
Parr, meanwhile, makes his first appearance in the Men's B Division on March 27 against either Chris Ward, Spencer Moss or Andy MacDougall.
Spectators are welcome at the event, with free admission.
BASKETBALL BAS Saltus will be slight favourites to claim the schools knockout crown when they meet old rivals Berkeley in the final at Bermuda College this evening.
The two sides clashed on Wednesday at Saltus with the home side emerging comfortable winners, but with Berkeley entering today's contest as defending champions, they're expected to put up a better show.
John Lee led Berkeley into a first quarter lead on Wednesday but Saltus coach Tim Trott's decision to play man-to-man defence for the remainder of the game proved effective as Keith Caines guided Saltus to the victory.
Tip-off this evening is at 7.30.
Meanwhile, the girls final takes place at 6.15 with undefeated Mount St. Agnes strong favourites to retain their title. They face a determined but injury-hit CedarBridge Blue team.
In the opening junior game at 5.00, Berkeley play the winners of last night's semi-final between Saltus and CedarBridge Red.
MOTOCROSS SCR Five of the six classes are still up for grabs as the Pepsi Motocross Nationals go into their last two rounds.
In the 50cc class Jonte Smith is in with a good chance of becoming the second person to win two 50cc titles, but his two KTM team-mates Zahkie Iris and Jaircybio Ratteray also have their eyes on the prize. Randy Munro, in fourth, is out of contention.
The 60cc class has a tie for first at the moment between Gary Cann and Anthony Grant, both without a championship to date.
PW80 and 60cc champ Aaron Cannonier leads the 80cc class over current 80cc title holder Steven Panchaud.
The 125C class has Ali Hatterley in pole position, but Wentworth Tucker could make up the 45 point deficit in one day of racing. However, all Hatterley has to do to become champion is stay fourth or above in his events.
Ricardo Nottingham could win his third 250 title with his closest competitor, Duprey Joell, suffering a wrist injury in practice. Jimi Heyder, in third, is too far back to take advantage of Joell's misfortune. Meanwhile, Aaron Pace will collect his fifth national title in the 125B class with a 128 point cushion over Jamel Pitcher.
