Bring back The Library
November 2, 2009
Dear Sir,
What in the name of all that's mighty is happening with the circulation room, the second floor, of our National Library? The place has been closed for almost two years for cleaning of some sort and even though we were promised an October opening, when I called the other day, I was told that the place is shut ... "indefinitely'. The PLP has no answers for the public education system which is crumbling before our eyes; we now know that over 50 percent of black males leave school as soon as they can; and the public education academic results are abysmal. I do appreciate that there is probably no political will to actually promote reading but, in addition to the obvious benefits to our children, the Library had more members than any organisation in Bermuda. Dale, for an author and promoter of reading, you sure are quiet these days. This was your Ministry once ...

The worker is truly king
October 30, 2009
Dear Sir,
I see that the Crown has determined that their own form of Imperial socialism should be iterated throughout the territories/colonies. This would be the right time to remind them that in times of economic hardship it is better that the worker takes home more of his pay cheque and not less. Bermudians should be proud to be the only "Capitalist Society" in the world. That is that the worker is truly King on Friday with his pay cheque. They are the consumer and they alone uphold the economy. To give more of that pay cheque to the Government would only feed the wallets of the politicians.
This is the core of corruption in socialist governments. The politicians that get 35 percent of the workers' pay cheque per week no longer work for the worker/people. They already have their money and don't have to ask the people for permission to do anything. Not to mention that 65 percent of the people who can't pay it are born outlaws as "Tax Evasionists". All claims by socialist and communist parties alike to represent the 'working class' have been proven to be a political endeavour to rob the worker of his ability to support the economy by purchasing power on payday!
Let everyone know that Bill Gates is not a 'Capitalist' he is a person that capitalised in a socialist system. A Socialist is a person that votes for a government that operates on 35 percent of the workers' pay cheques per week. A Communist is a person that votes for a Government that operates on anything above 35 percent of the workers paycheck per week. A Capitalist is a person that votes for a government that operates on less than ten percent of the workers pay cheque per week. These definitions cannot be found in dictionaries. The existing definitions are contrary to the goal of 'Global Development' and education for "All" in general. When we as "Bermudians" appreciate the fact that without the generosity of the existing 'Socialist' governments of the world 'our way of life would not have been made possible', then we can promote 'capitalism' as a 'Global' cause and a model for the whole world to use. Believe me when I say it, "the rest of the world needs it!"

A warning to Kim Swan
October 30, 2009
Dear Sir,
Politics is dirty but some things need to be said as it was recently put: The truth hurts. In recent weeks the UBP has had a number of its MPs' pretentiousness in the newspaper and on TV, some at the expense of their leader Kim Swan. I was pleased when Kim Swan went on Gary Moreno's show "Let's Talk", he did a great job. Swan spoke in a forthright manner, respectfully and put things in their proper perspective. Richards was on the week before and blamed Kim Swan for the UBP woes, so much for teamwork now that they are only nine. Richards' efforts to publicly kick his leader when the party is at its lowest is not someone I want at the helm of the UBP.
What's worse is that Mr. Richards did not have the guts to throw his hat in the ring after the 2007 defeat, but would disrespect Swan who did, by having it said he won by default. In any election, nomination day is the most important day. Swan ran unopposed when others did not come forward. Richards did not want the job when the UBP owed over $500,000 for the 2007 election and were not able to pay it off until recently in 2009. Now Mr. Richards and his cohorts want to kick Swan in the proverbial donkey now that the huge election debt is gone and blame Swan for the departures of people that were demanding the resignations of fellow Member of Parliament and calling for the party to disband. Richards almost lost Michael Dunkley's safe seat in Devonshire and he is unlikely to win it if an election is called tomorrow. The UBP probably realised they need to remove Richards in Devonshire 11 and put Michael Dunkley back in that seat. If they do that and give Bob a safe seat, he would become the epitome of social promotion. Bob Richards's political record shows:
1. 1997, appointed as a Government Senator and made a Cabinet Minister.
2. 1998, ran in Warwick and showed badly
3. 2003, ran in Warwick and showed badly
4. 2003, appointed to Senate by Grant Gibbons (and lobbied big time to remove him)
5. 2007, given a Michael Dunkley safe seat in Devonshire and only wins by 25 votes.
The UBP is left with nine seats and only Swan has not seen the favour of the non-traditional UBP voter and wins a marginal seat. Swan for whatever reason seems unlikely to run in a UBP safe seat. I bet the UBP pundits are already looking for a safe seat for Richards. My advice to Kim Swan is watch your back. It seems the UBP is getting ready to spit you out and make you their latest scapegoat.

Swan makes a difference
October 30, 2009
Dear Sir,
I have never written to you before, but felt obligated to show my support for Kim Swan. He is a politician that makes a difference in and for the entire community. I am begging his colleagues to support him, especially now that the rebels have shown their hands. If they band together today, rebuild with a new team from the various communities, they will win the next election.
