Third road fatality named
Police yesterday revealed the name of Bermuda?s third road fatality this year, Dennis Soares.
Mr. Soares was 30 years old when he died in a collision on Friday evening.
At 6.45 p.m. Mr. Soares lost control of the motorbike he was riding and collided with another vehicle on Middle Road, ten meters east of the Tee Street junction, in Devonshire.
He was thrown from his bike and landed under another car. Police were called to the scene and Mr. Soares was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead by a physician.
Witnesses to the accident are urged to contact Peter Charlemagne at the Traffic Enforcement Unit on 299-4265. was unable to contact his family over the weekend.
On Saturday evening there was another serious road accident in Devonshire.
A car attempting to overtake rammed into another car travelling in the opposite direction.
The head-on collision happened on South Road near the Devondale Drive junction at 5.20 p.m. One of the drivers sustained a cracked rib while the other driver complained of pains to his neck. The man was released from the hospital but a female driver remains in the general ward in stable condition.
