More than 330 athletes, from primary school age up to Masters (over 40), will gather at National Stadium this weekend in a bid to qualify for next month's

The trials, which are divided into six divisions -- primary school girls, primary school boys, secondary girls, secondary boys, male open and female open -- get underway at 1.00 p.m. tomorrow, and will resume at 10.00 on Sunday morning.

Heats will be held in each of the divisions, although only the finish time and not the placing will determine who qualifies for the finals.

Sheldon Thompson and Jamal Hart will be favourites among the senior men while Karen Adams and Julia Hawley top the ladies open field.

Meet director Bob Oliver has warned that the races will begin on schedule and those arriving late risk automatic elmination.

SQUASH SQU Twenty two teams representing eight schools in four divisions will compete this Saturday in the Commercial Risk Inter-Schools Squash team tournament at the Devonshire courts.

Some 80 players are registered from Saltus (junior and senior), St.George's Prep, Elliott primary, Bermuda High School, Dellwood primary, Harrington Sound primary, Warwick Academy, East End primary.

JUNIOR GOLF GLF Junior golf competition last weekend was played at St. George's under the captain's choice format when a number of impressive scores were returned.

The team of Fraser Hunt, David Boyce, Kwame Caisey and Sean Dunkley took top spot with a nine-under 53, four shots clear of the team of Andrew Trott, Scott Roy, Davon Smith and and Bonnie Leibovitch. Also on 57 but beaten on retrogression were the team of Jennifer Spurling, Oliver Pitcher, Ryan Davidge and Tim Burland.

Meanwhile, the novices also played a captain's choice over six holes at Belmont where the team of Daniel Ezekiel, Richard Weare, R.J.Bouchard and John Neal led the way with 24.

In the novice A programme played at Horizons over nine holes, Graham Kelly returned the low score of 37, two ahead of Tyler Marshall with Krystle Phillips a further stroke back.
