Crucial week for Trojans

weekend's FA Cup semi-final, Somerset face two important make-up matches which could see them clinching a spot in the Friendship Trophy semi-final and moving back to the top of the league.

Tonight they and North Village will make a third attempt to play their Friendship Trophy tie. The match is scheduled for BAA Field (9.00) and the winners will join champions Dandy Town, Devonshire Cougars and Vasco in the semi-finals, the first of which was scheduled for tonight but has now had to be put back.

Tonight's first game is a Shield tie between Port Royal and St. David's.

Somerset's make-up league match against Devonshire Cougars, which was set for Thursday night, has now been put back to Saturday night at Somerset (9.00) and will be preceded by a Second Division make-up encounter between Port Royal and Wolves. Both were postponed on January 29.

Somerset presently have a game in hand over top team Dandy Town and with a victory will go back into first place on goal difference. The points are even more important for second-from-bottom Cougars who could move at least a couple of spots up the standings with a win.

Despite confirming last week that the points from the abandoned match between Devonshire Cougars and Devonshire Colts had been awarded to Colts, the BFA explained yesterday that the matter is still unresolved. A decision is expected by the end of the week.

German Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen who managed only a narrow 2-1 victory over Bermuda's Under-23 team on Friday, crushed the USA's Under-23 team 6-3 on Sunday in the last of their tour games.
