RenaissanceRe’s Finance team took part in a community day, cleaning up the Railway Trail near the restored bridge at Bailey’s Bay. Volunteer efforts were being led by senior vice-president and chief accounting officer Mark Wilcox, a member of the board of The Friends of the Bermuda Railway Trail.

Working in conjunction with the charity and the Department of Parks office, RenaissanceRe employees spent the time moving and spreading mulch between bridge sections, cleaning up downed vegetation, laying sod and adding plants.

Kevin O’Donnell, president and CEO of RenaissanceRe, said: “As a founding member of The Friends of the Railway Trail, we at RenaissanceRe believe that reconnecting the Trail will restore an area of outstanding natural beauty where Bermuda’s residents and visitors can walk, run and cycle safely.

“Our commitment to investing in and improving the green spaces we have on the Island is not limited to a financial donation only. We are proud to take part in this day of volunteering to assist in clearing left-over damage from the recent storms and improving the landscape.”
