Raptilez rocks the festival
Animator Al Seymour Jr. and writer Philip Cook have teamed up to make a short that's sure to delight audiences around the world. A must see of this year's film festival, Raptilez on De Rock is a painstakingly created four minute cartoon that rivals any you would watch on the major US (or Iraqi) TV networks on a Saturday morning - and it was made at a fraction of the cost.
Besides writing the script, Philip Cook also provides the voices for the film's three characters, all authentic and well defined personalities. Cook and Seymour have totally surpassed themselves with this wickedly funny and inventive short. Produced to a high level of professionalism, this film will provoke about two belly laughs a minute and loads of hearty chuckles in between. It's pure fun and quintessentially Bermudian. Beyond that it's technically proficient and crafted to near perfection.
Mr. Seymour has been perfecting his craft for decades and it shows. Cook is less well known as a creative talent, but most locals would have heard his character voices on any one of a number of local commercials. He, too, is extraordinarily gifted. Not to exaggerate but this is a partnership made in filmmaking heaven. Their only challenge now is topping Raptilez... for next year's BIFF. A definite winner.
