Edwards in row as Rec crash

Bailey's Bay 165-2 Led by an unbeaten 72 from skipper Chris Smith and a brisk 57 from Cal Dill Jr, champions Bailey's Bay sent Devonshire Rec. crashing to an eight-wicket loss in this Knockout Cup first round game at Sea Breeze Oval on Sunday.

Devonshire's misery was compounded by an incident involving paceman Anthony Edwards who only recently completed a term of suspension and could now face further disciplinary action.

Edwards reacted angrily after being stumped out and following a delayed departure reportedly returned to the field with his bat and directed verbal abuse at opposing players before team-mates persuaded him to leave the field.

Smith and Dill joined in an opening stand of 104 and set Bay on course for their emphatic victory. Ricky Hill chipped in with an unbeaten 18.

Earlier Corey Hill continued his fine bowling this season with four for 36 off 10 overs, including three maidens, to spearhead Bay's attack while Clarkie Trott had two for 23.
