And for those staying in hotels, no matter how beautiful or otherwise-entertaining a country might be, seeing most attractions shut down for a 48-hour period can be downright depressing. So, for the two-day period of Christmas and Boxing Day, I suggest you look to Bermuda's natural resources if seeking ways to be entertained.

Especially if staying in a hotel, get out early in the morning. There's plenty of churches to choose from if you'd like to begin the day that way. They usually only last an hour and, if you're lucky, maybe you'll get invited for a Bermuda Christmas dinner by a member of the congregation! Take a walk along one of our beaches. Or attempt the entire South Shore and go for a dip afterwards. It's traditional in many Bermudian families to go for an early swim on Christmas morning. Weather permitting, the sea temperature is usually quite enjoyable at this time of year although hitting the cold air when you get out of the water is another story! Go for a walk along our Railway trails. The scenery really is beautiful and it's a great way to see the Island -- especially during the Yuletide Season when many of our homes are decorated in Christmas lights.

Get dressed up and make it a romantic occasion.

On Boxing Day, Bermuda begins to slowly revive itself. Now is your chance to spend an afternoon catching a glimpse of `Bermuda football', or soccer at the Dudley Eve Cup finals. Ask your conceirge for game times and sites. Or make the trip to Coney Island in Hamilton Parish where you can while away the afternoon at our motocross races, the Formula Shell Classic; be prepared though -- there's no seating and if you stand anywhere near the track, you will get dirty! Some movie theatres also open on Boxing Day. There are three locations; each with its own listing -- Queen Street and Union Square in Hamilton and at the Dockyard.
