Who's in, who's out ? a look at Dr. Brown's team
While there were few surprises in the Cabinet appointments other selections have given clues as to the changing nature of the PLP Government.
Rolfe Commissiong and Wayne Caines, long distrusted by the Jennifer Smith faction, have found themselves in the inner sanctum after getting top jobs in Cabinet Office.
The appointment of Mr. Commissiong as race relations advisor, Mr. Caines as Chief of Staff and Scott Simmons as Press Secretary has led to some suspicions of empire building. And the accusations reached a crescendo with the news that Dr. Brown was travelling with Police as security and planned to appoint a bodyguard.
In the Senate, Dr. Brown ushered in a new era from the tradition of male appointees in late middle age. In came 25-year-old Davida Morris, 35-year-old Wayne Caines and 43-year-old Kim Wilson.
Despite ousting the faction associated with Jennifer Smith, which had ran the party for decades, Dr. Brown was careful not to put any noses out of joint when he assumed leadership. Dame Jennifer's former Chief of Staff, Lt. Col Burch, was retained in the Cabinet and given the prestigious Public Safety brief to add to Housing.
And Dame Jennifer herself was appointed as chair of several boards ? including the Parole Board, the Stamp Design Committee, the Government Employees Health Insurance Management Committee and the Historic Wrecks Authority.
Sacked Senator Raymond Tannock was given the Education Board chair while his former Upper Chamber colleague Neville Tyrrell became deputy chair of CedarBridge. And Walter Lister, who enjoyed the briefest of stint as Transport Minister after Dr. Brown resigned to take on Alex Scott, was appointed as chair of Bermuda Land Development Corporation,
Jennifer Smith acolyte Michael Scott was kept on as a Junior Minister. However, there was no mistaking the nuances in the removal of Glenn Blakeney and Ashfield DeVent from the Government side of the House to the spill-over section next to the Opposition.
