City road closures and diversions for road races

Road closures and diversions will be in place today and Sunday January 15 due to the Bermuda Marathon Weekend.The first measures will be due to the KPMG Invitational Mile which begins at 6.30pm tonight.According to the Corporation of Hamilton, the following roads will be closed to all vehicles from 5pm to 11pm:l Front Street: between Par-la-Ville Road and the bottom of Spurling Hill.l Burnaby Street: between Reid and Front Streets.There will also be no parking from 5pm to 11pm on Front Street between Par-la-Ville Road and the bottom of Spurling Hill, and Burnaby Street between Reid and Front Streets.Patrons of Front Street east businesses are asked to remove their vehicles from that section of Front Street by no later than 5pm.There will be no parking after 2pm at No. 1 Car Park and No. 45 Car Park and the gates will be locked between 5pm and 11pm.Diversions will be put in place by the police to re route traffic away from Front Street.Sunday will feature the Bermuda International Marathon and Half Marathon, and the following roads will be closed to all vehicles between 7am and 4pm:l Front Street between Bermudiana Road and Parliament Street.l Bermudiana Road between Front Street and Gorham Road.l Par-la-Ville Road: between Church and Front Streets.l Burnaby Street between Reid and Front Streets.There will be no parking on both sides of the following streets between 4am and 4pm:l Front Street between Bermudiana Road and Court Street.l Bermudiana Road between Front Street and Gorham Road.l Rosebank Road between Par-la-Ville and Bermudiana Roads.l Par-la-Ville Road: between Front and Church Streets.There will be a reserved parking area on Queen Street between Front and Reid Streets from 9.30am. Access will be from Reid Street.The Corporation issued advice to those affected by the traffic diversions. Motorists entering the city from Pitt’s Bay Road are advised to turn ontoWoodbourne Avenue, travel down Gorham Road, turn left on Bermudiana Road, and the right onto Church Street, in order to gain access to city churches and other locations. Motorists entering the city from East Broadway are advised to turn north on Court Street.
