Court date set for Under-23 player
the seven Under-23 soccer players arrested in Miami.
Russell will reappear at the Juvenile Justice Centre at Dade County.
On the same day, four of his Under-23 teammates face trial at an adult court.
They are Shawn Riley, Donnie Charles, Herbert Dillas and Meshach Wade.
Yesterday Chief of narcotics of the Dade County Attorney's Office Mr. David Weinstein said February 21 trial dates had been set for the other two players -- Kevin Jennings and Keishon Smith.
The players, who were arrested on December 9 at Miami International Airport, face charges of possessing and importing about eight pounds of cannabis.
Mr. Weinstein said no decision had yet been made on whether the players would appear before a single judge.
"We are still looking into the question of consolidating the case.'' Meanwhile, a board of inquiry into the drugs-in-soccer controversy kicked off this week behind closed doors.
On Thursday, Bermuda Football Association officials were scheduled to meet the board.
Former Technical Director of Coaching Mr. Burkhard Ziese, who was fired by the BFA this month, was also expected to appear before the hearing.
