agency for disabled people, was congratulated by MPs in the House of Assembly on Friday.

They also asked that congratulations be sent to those who organised World AIDS Day on Tuesday and put on events leading up to it.

In praising JOB and the Production Workshop Committee, chaired by Lady Swan, Community Affairs Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons noted that Government had made available one of its buildings for JOB's office and staff of one.

It is hoped that Government will completely take over the funding of the agency in two years.

Mr. Gibbons also asked a letter of thanks be sent to Sir Dudley Butterfield for his service to the community in voluntarily sitting on the advisory board to the Salvation Army.

After 37 years on the board, he is stepping down at the end of the month, Mr.

Gibbons said, adding Sir Dudley had been honoured with the highest award the Army gives to non-members.

Shadow Education Minister Miss Jennifer Smith asked that a letter of congratulations be sent to the AME Churches of Bermuda lay group for putting on the play Danielle's Choice, a play about teenagers and AIDS.

She said the play, directed by Mrs. Shangri-la Durham Thompson, had exceeded all of her expectations and fine performances were given by those in the leading roles.

Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness commended the setting up of JOB and congratulated "all those involved in organising events that highlighted the problem of AIDS with a view to preventing the spread of it''.

But since, he acknowledged, letters could not be sent to everyone, one should at least be sent to Mrs. Joan Dillas Wright, the director of nursing at the hospital who chaired the committee which organised World AIDS Day.

Mrs. Grace Bell (UBP) congratulated Black Box Productions which put on a play about AIDS at the St. John's Church in Pembroke.

Shadow Community Affairs Minister Mr. Reginald Burrows also praised Danielle's Choice. And he praised the Salvation Army's centre for the homeless, at which he recently ate breakfast.

Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan thanked all those who helped organise the fifth World AIDS Day.

"AIDS is a condition which affects the world and almost disproportionately affects our little Island of Bermuda,'' he said.

Shadow Sports Minister Mr. Dennis Lister and former Sport Minister the Hon.

Harry Soares congratulated Mr. Dwayne Pearman for winning the Belmont Invitational golf tournament.
