Defending champions Union crash out
There will be a new champion crowned this year as the Island Soccer League (ISL) defending champions Union were dumped out of the play-offs by Storm at the first hurdle 11-4 last night at the National Sports Centre (NSC).
On an evening when Knights and Kings hoisted the ACE Blue Division and CellularOne Red Division titles respectively, it was the Union who were made to surrender the silverware they won last season.
They were put to the sword by Storm's attacking livewire Domico Coddington and Co in a goal-frenzied affair.
Storm jumped out a 6-0 lead before Union were able to get on the scoresheet in a game which they never seemed interested in winning from the first whistle.
Coddington and Kwame Steede both helped themselves to hat-tricks, while Otis Minors, Kevin Lambe, Chris Caisey, James Currie and Grant McKellar all chipped in on the scoring act.
Union got a brace from Kamen Tucker and solo strikes from Blenn Bean and Lashun Dill.
In the opening match of the night, Cecoy Robinson set the standard of play, scoring four times to guide Arsenal into tomorrow night's semi-finals with a 11-3 win over Titans.
Arsenal scored seven unanswered goals to stamp their authority on proceedings.
Robinson wasn't the only player for Arsenal to get multiple goals with Ijahmon Mallory, Cornell Castle jr., and Michael Parsons all grabbing braces.
Ralph Bean jr. also struck for the winners.
K'Wonde Butterfield scored twice and Mikre Pace got a single tally for Titans.
Tomorrow night's matches see Arsenal play against the Kings and Storm face the Knights.
