Beijing bound – Bermuda team head for Games
Bermuda's Olympic team will be heading out to Beijing, China, this week with the opening ceremony scheduled for Friday.
Royal Gazette Sports Editor Adrian Robson, the only Bermuda journalist accredited to cover the Games, will be joining them to bring our readers in-depth coverage throughout the 17-day festival.
Chef de Mission Phil Guishard is already in the Chinese capital, preparing for the athletes' arrival.
Twelve other officials have also been appointed to assist the six-strong team which consists of swimmers Kiera Aitken and Roy Allen Burch, track and field athletes Arantxa King and Tryone Smith, triathlete Flora Duffy and equestrienne Jill Terceira.
Showjumper Terceira will be competing in Hong Kong, the designated site for all equestrian events.
No decision has yet been made on who will carry the Bermuda flag at Friday's ceremony.
