Tuckers Point and The Reefs in Travel + Leisure's top 25 regional poll

Tuckers Point Hotel & Spa and The Reefs have been singled out as top 25 Caribbean hotels by influential Travel + Leisure Magazine this year.

Tuckers Point Hotel & Spa was ranked seventh across the region it is the first time the hotel has appeared on the list.

The magazine wrote: "Inspired by an era of horse-drawn carriages and cricket matches, Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa is the first luxury resort to open on Bermuda in almost four decades. Situated on 200 acres overlooking Castle Harbour, the hotel's 88 guest rooms come with everything you could hope for in an old-world Caribbean retreat: mahogany beds, deep soaking tubs, and balconies.

"The white-tablecloth Point Restaurant & Terrace showcases local ingredients — caramelised sea scallops; pecan-and-herb-crusted sea bass — and is adorned with large murals depicting 19th century clipper ships."

General manager Brian Young said: "We are honoured to have received this prestigious recognition and we're delighted to be in such great company in the hotel's first full year of operation. We are very thankful to the 240 members of the Tucker's Point team for working so hard to garner this recognition."

Meanwhile The Reefs moved up three positions and was named the 15th best hotel in the region this year.

The hotel has made the top 25 list every year since 1997.

The magazine wrote: "The resort offers a variety of room options, including cottages nestled among pristine limestone cliffs with dramatic views of Bermuda's south shore. La Serena, the full-service spa, specialises in traditional Thai massage."

The Reefs was one of owner David Dodwell's two hotels to make the list. His Nisbet Plantation Beach Club on Nevis Island was ranked number one.
