South Africa tour a learning experience

The Bermuda Cricket Board’s National Academy Development team have won one and lost four of their five matches so far in South Africa.

The lone victory for the Under-14s came against Knysna School, winning the 30-over match by one wicket after dismissing Kynsna for 90 and then replying with 93 for nine.

Faheem Swan claimed four for 19 from 5.5 overs while Kayla Raymond, Cameron Jeffers, Kameron Mason, Sean Tucker and Kacy Greene all claimed one wicket each.

Jade Morrissey led the Bermuda batting with 25 while Jeffers scored 16 and LeiLanni Nesbeth 12.

Bermuda lost their opening match to Baal by 62 runs.

Baal scored 133 for four in their 15 overs and the Bermuda team replied with 71 for five in 15 overs, with Jade Morrissey scoring 22 from 19 balls and Justin Bascome-Dickinson 16.

Tucker, Cameron and Morrissey all claimed one wicket.

Baal proved too strong for the BCB Development in their second meeting, scoring 130 for two in their allotted 20 overs and dismissing BCB Development for 24. Kacy Greene claimed one for 16 and Kristian Singh one for 12.

The tough competition for Bermuda continued in their third match when they scored 58 all out in 20 overs against Hugenote School who replied with 58 without loss.

Jade Morrissey scored 14 off 19 ball for BCB.

The team lost their fifth match against Paarl High School, scoring 80 for nine before Paarl replied with 82 for one.

Torleair Caines scored 19 while Cameron Jeffers claimed the only Paarl wicket, giving up 25 runs.

The team return home tomorrow.
