Going back to our roots February 5, 2000

Being that it is Black History Month, I am writing this letter to my brothers who need to know this part of their history, that will set them free from their history, that will them free from their spiritual bondage.

In Biblical times there was a conspiracy to annihilate the male child and it is no different today. In Genesis 2:11-13 the first two rivers mentioned in the Garden of Eden are in Africa; the rivers Pishon and Gishon. The Pishon goes through Marilah which is Egypt. The Gishon encompasses the entire land of Ethiopia. Egypt and Ethiopia are in Africa. The other two rivers are of Mesopotamia (Hiddekel, Euphrates) and thus Afro-Asiatic.

These observations mean that the earliest humans were of a darker hue. From a Biblical perspective, this is not a mere assumption. The Bible is full of positive references to Africa, the land of Moses birth, Israel's infancy (God changed Jacob's name of Israel), and Jesus early childhood. Any bible concordance reveals the names of great Africans like Hagar, Abraham's wife Sarai, Ebed-Melech Jeremiah's deliverer, Simon Jesus cross bearer and Queen Candance, Nubian treasurer.

The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise and take the young child and mother, and flee into Egypt (Africa). Matthew 2:13. When hiding someone you don't hide them where they stick out, but where they blend in! I don't hide them where they stick out, but where they blend in! I don't care how you wrap it up, bundle it up and dress it up, you can't hide a blonde haired blue eyed baby in Africa! It wouldn't blend in it would only stick out.

Could it be that God willed it that Jesus would be hidden in Africa because with his physical features he could blend right in? My brothers, they depicted the Biblical characters of the bible as white because they were the ones that felt inferior. This is why they kept us oppressed for so long and have perverted the word of God to keep you in spiritual bondage.

This is why some of you are easy prey to drugs, alcohol, nicotine, crime, low self-esteem and some of you are being deceived by your own people who come with half-truths mixed with false doctrines and racist idealism.

Scriptures expose Satan and his ploys, which is why he does everything possible to keep people from studying the bible. Hosea 4:6 God says, "My people (all races) are destroyed for lack of knowledge (which is the word of God) because you have rejected knowledge.'' If we are going to set our brother's free we need to tell them their whole history, so that they can become whole people. We need to begin with our biblical history.

DAMITA LESHORE Devonshire Schemes are just scams February 9, 2000 Dear Sir, Yesterday I wrote to you on the issue of pyramid scams -- not schemes. Today I will take a different tact. May I through your paper ask the public to suggest my proposal to start 100 scams simultaneously. The way it will work is that the first 100 people to send me 1,000 can start looking for suckers themselves.

Let me give them a little advice. They had better get a copy of the New York telephone directory because there will be no more victims in Bermuda in about three days! -- the population of Bermuda is too small.

And while I am on the subject of scams, I will write to Arthur Hodgson today to ask him if I can licence air in Bermuda. The way this will work is that all residents, and tourists, that breathe will send me ten cents per day for that right -- good value. But to demonstrate my generous nature, I will sell for $10,000 each a licence to the first ten people that call me to also charge.

They in turn can sell their licence to ten more people etc. etc. Do the foolish subscribed to the mutual assistance programs need few more examples? Where is the Minister of Finance? SANDERS FRITH BROWN Policy needs a re-think February 10, 2000 Dear Sir, The voters of this Island have been beguiled into believing that this government really cares about the environment, but their incredible blunder in allowing much larger cars shows their true colours. If the Ministers want gargantuan limousines for themselves, and their favourite funeral director, that is fine -- but do they really have to screw up the island for the rest of us? Most of the car agencies are not in favour of the move and it would be interesting to know the makes of cars, and models, the Minister refers to as having been shortened to comply with existing laws. The average Bermuda household now consists of approximately two persons, so what they should be doing is banning the three largest classes of vehicles....not adding more! Larger cars will just exacerbate the horrendous traffic problem presently facing us (which escalated when the law was changed to allow us to drive cars outside our own household.) Dr. Brown uses the safety issue as justification for increasing the size. Apart from the lunatics who race around at high speeds, safety is not an issue. The fact that a car is seven inches longer is not going to prevent an accident when a driver is out of control.

Tourism is in a shambles and our economy is under serious threat and all Government can think about are bigger cars. God help us! I hope enough people raise hell to force them to re-think this whole dumb scheme.

DISGUSTED Exercising caution February 4, 2000 Dear Sir, As the Supreme Court action between Southampton Princess and Cellular One begins on February 14 to remove the cellular tower at Faraway in Warwick, it is interesting to note the actions being taken by the rest of the world on this issue.

1. In Toronto, the home of C P Hotels, the Board of Health has instructed the Telecommunications Steering Committee that their recommendation is for current acceptable emission levels to be reduced by 100 times. We note that Toronto recognises that this is a serious potential health hazard and the driving force is the Health Department giving instructions to the Telecommunications Department.

2. In countries from Australia to Russia and China to Italy the USA's FCC guidelines are being rejected a potentially harmful and far stricter requirements are being imposed. It is becoming increasingly apparent the more I read that the massive lobby of the Telecommunications Industry in the U.S.

have pressured Washington into enacting lax guidelines. A louder and louder crescendo of highly respected Scientists and Doctors are waving the red flag that low level non-ionising EMF radiation from cellular towers arbitrarily directed at unsuspecting nearby families and children is unethical and potentially harmful.

3. The well funded and highly profitable Telecommunications Industry is fully aware that to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this sort of intrusive radiation is harmful may well take 15-20 years as tumours, leukemia, breast cancer etc which have been directly linked take years to incubate.

Furthermore, as in the tobacco industry, to then go on and unequivocally confirm the correlation would take many additional years of study. All the while the industry is unregulated, uncontrolled and highly profitable.

We urge Bermuda to be cautious. The concept of prudent avoidance should be followed here in Bermuda.

As UNESCO reported in 1999: "The precautionary principle is an important guiding principle in handling inevitable scientific uncertainty, especially in situations of potentially irreversible or catastrophic impacts''.

"The question is when do we act. Do we act immediately upon suspicion and indications of risks, or do we wait until we have 100% scientific certainty?'' (Danish Ministry of the Environmental and energy, 1998).

STEPHEN, NICHOLAS AND KENNY THOMAS Warwick Heart-warming treatment February 9, 2000 Dear Sir, This letter is to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all the emergency staff at King Edward General Hospital in Hamilton, Bermuda.

On Saturday February 5, 2000 at 11.30 a.m. I checked myself into emergency to diagnose chest pains that I had been experiencing over a two day period. I went in with my two year old daughter.

The check in clerk got my personal information efficiently and with courtesy.

The nurse was most helpful and took my blood pressure and health history in a most professional manner. She could find nothing unusual but stated that she would refer me to the cardiac department for further testing. She mentioned that she had twenty-five years experience in Bermuda. She even provided my two year old with books to read during my ordeal.

I was transferred to cardiac, hooked up to heat monitoring equipment and given an electro -- cardiogram test by a technician.

I was then serviced by a Dr. McKenzie (a fellow Jamaican) who stated that I had an athlete's heart based on the tests so far. After further interviewing, he recommended a chest x-ray and a shot of an anti-inflammatory drug. He stated it was probably a strained muscle in the chest cavity as a result of coughing due to the flu.

I was then wheeled into the x-ray department by a courteous orderly where chest x-rays were taken by a pleasant technician.

After the doctor reviewed all tests, he stated that everything was fine and wrote a prescription for anti-flammatory tables and to come back to see him if the problem persists. During my waiting, I witnessed two elderly patients receive treatment and diagnosis promptly after test results were examined. My entire ordeal and diagnosis at the hospital emergency department lasted two and a half hours! My previous residence was in Toronto, Canada where they are having to turn away emergency patients due to a chronic space shortage.

Bermudians should be very thankful and proud of the level of hospital service that they receive and have access to.

I would like to gratefully thank all hospital staff who treated me and state that your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Keep up the excellent work! RAMON L. SATTAUR Sandys
