Hold people accountable
October 14, 2011Dear Sir,Taxpayer money was squandered during the Berkeley construction project (including the multi-million gift to the union); no one learned their lesson and no one was held accountable. Taxpayer money was squandered during the BHC scandal; no one learned their lesson and no was held accountable (sorry, one poor soul was caught and jailed). Taxpayer money was squandered during the Court House construction project; no one learned their lesson and no one was held accountable. Taxpayer money was squandered during the TCD/Emissions Control project; no one learned their lesson and no one was held accountable. Taxpayer money was squandered during the Dockyard cruise ship terminal project; no one learned their lesson and no one was held accountable.Taxpayer money was once again squandered during the Faith-Based Tourism initiative and you guessed it, no one was held accountable. How much more money has to be squandered before Government decides financial controls and iron clad contracts are essential? Government is claiming controls are being put in place but only time will tell if we have finally learned our lesson and if people will be held accountable.KENT SMITHSt George’s
