First Division leaders National Sports Club received a jolt during their latest outing as Warwick Workmen's Club handed the previously unbeaten outfit

Taking full advantage of their home setting, Warwick emerged 4-2 winners with individual triumphs from Steve Dunleavy, Steve Bremar and Dennis Eve, along with a doubles victory by the tandem of Dunleavy and Eve.

Nationals were limited to a solitary singles win by team captain Steve Pantry while Paul Charleton and Kyle Thompson came through in the doubles.

Seizing on the opportunity, second placed Sandys Sports Club narrowed the gap between themselves and the first placed team, hammering a hopelessly outclassed Queens Club I 5-1.

Doing the damage for Sandys were Roger (Sticks) Henderson, Greg Falzone and Lawrence and Tony DeSilva, while Stephen Roberts prevented the whitewash with a consolation win.

The lone remaining First Division contest saw Old Colony Club I down St.

George's Dinghy and Sports Club 5-1, with Brian Haxton of Old Colony receiving player-of-the-week honours for a 63-15 drubbing of H.Burrows along with a doubles win.

Garnering Second Division player-of-the-week honours was Police newcomer G.Tomkins, who impressed with a 54-break during his doubles match, teamed with Alan Oliver against Conrad Soares and Gordon Flood. Police won the match 4-2.

Other fixtures resulted in a win for Sandys Sports Club II, 4-2 over neighbours Sandys Boat Club, while Old Colony Club II and Queen's Club II played to 3-3 tie.

Meanwhile, in other snooker news, the draw for the Gosling Trophy competition saw Sandys Sports Club pitted against Queens Club I and Nationals drawn against Sandys Boat Club, with both matches to be played at Old Colony Club on February 8.

In the Bermuda Open, Chris Dakin will play Terry Southern and Stephen Roberts meets David DeSilva, both games slated for Queens Club on February 7.

BRIDGE BDG The Bermuda Regional Bridge Tournament at the Southampton Princess Hotel concluded over the weekend with the finals of the Knockout Teams and the Swiss Teams' Flights A, B and C being played.

In the Knockout, Rosenkranz and Ekeblad engaged in a close final contest that saw the Rosenkranz team just hang on for victory and the title.

Rosenkranz had earlier defeated the Piltch team in the semi-finals, while Ekeblads beat Cespedes.

Among the Swiss Teams, Peter and Dee Lindon of England along with Americans Anne Christensen and Warren Nelson captured Flight A; locals Joe Taussig, Charles Hall, Eddie Kyme, John Rayner and Stephanie Wilks were tops in Flight B, while the American crew of Richard and Helen Johnson and Richard and Myrtice Neal headed Flight C.

ROAD RACING RUN The second 5K race in a series of six, organised by the Olympic Club, will take place on Wednesday, starting at 12.30 p.m. outside the club on Dundonald Street.

DARTS DRT TCaptains are reminded that the Howard Watson Memorial Cup will take place tonight at BAA Club starting at 8.00. Five players are needed for the team event.
