Talent runs in the family

Young Andrew Forgesson, son of dynamic runners Anna Eatherly and Brett Forgesson, showed his talent and speed yesterday on the tennis court in the Boys Under 12 event.

In a two-hour marathon match against Christopher Cooper, the two opponents were fairly evenly matched with most matches going to deuce. Forgesson was quick to run down balls which ultimately won him the match 6-2, 6-4. With little rest or break from the heat, he turned around and headed back to the court to claim a second victory of the day against Christian Parfitt in the Boys Under 10 event, with a score of 8-1.

Forgesson will now meet Christopher Rego in the Boys Under 10 Event. Rego continued to show his consistent game by defeating another seed yesterday this time in the Boys Under 12 event, defeating second seed Ben Green 6-3, 6-3.

Visiting player Andrew Rigby found it tough against Neal Towlson in the Under 14 Boys Event, with Towlson winning the match 6-3, 6-0. He now looks set to meet Jack Keyes in the Boys Under 14 Final.

In an interesting twist, Michael Skater who defeated Kevin Caza in the boys Under 16 on Monday, was matched up against Caza again yesterday this time in the Boys Open event, however this time, Caza proved too strong a player today defeating him 6-0, 6-2.

Also in the Boys Open Event Nicholas Butterfield played a three setter which came down to the wire with a tie break in the final set before defeating Uki Deane 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (5).

In other match play, Clementine Keyes advanced in both the girls Under 10 Event and the Girls Under 12 Event, while older brother Jack continued his winning streak by defeating Paul Simons, 6-2, 6-3 in the boys Under 14 Event.

Girls Under 12 match play saw Jessica D?Estrella defeat Aisling Gorman, 6-4, 6-4.

The tournament is set to kick into high gear today with an increase in scheduled matches in the hopes of avoiding the pending inclement weather.
