Budding gymnasts 'bring home the Bling'
According to seven-year-old gymnast Zekiah Lewis Bermuda brought home the Bling!
Cheered on by over 40 Bermudians, six first-time gymnasts competed in the St.Patricks Invitational in North Carolina on March 15th.
Zekiah brought home three medals placing second on bars, third on beam, and sixth in the all around. Clara James, eight, came fourth on vault, second on floor, and fifth in the all around.
Samantha Soares, seven, placed second on vault and sixth in the all around in her division. Zantae Dill, nine, received the fifth place medal for bars and was tenth in the all around.
Sydney Mason, nine, and Amy Outerbridge, eight, placed ninth and sixth in the all around, respectively.
In the novice division Corey Ford, ten, led the pack with two third place finishes for vault and floor. She also racked up two gold medals, one for bars, and one for the all around title.
Zoe Wright, nine, placed fifth on bars and ninth in the all around. Danielle Wall finished sixth on vault, and seventh on bars and in the all around.
"This was a first time meet for six of the nine gymnasts who travelled", said head coach of Bermuda Gymnastics Tina Williams.
"Although we do lots of practice meets in Bermuda it is never the same as going to a new building with new judges and an applauding audience that they are not used to.
"This meet was very successful for Bermuda Gymnastics and a stepping stone to better things."
