Ginepri signs up for XL event

Former World number 15, Robby Ginepri, is the latest player to sign-up for the XL Bermuda Tennis Championships this month.

The man who has beaten the likes of Mardy Fish, Andy Roddick, Marat Safin, and faced Andre Agassi in the semi-finals of the US Open will be at the event at the Coral Beach and Tennis Club.

In 2005 Ginepri reached the quarter finals or better in nine ATP events, including Auckland, Memphis, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Cincinatti, US Open, Bangkok, Tokyo and Madrid, and won the events in Indianapolis and Madrid.

"We are thrilled at the news that the former number 15 in the world Robby Ginepri will be competing in this year's tournament," said 2008 XL Bermuda Tennis Championships, Tournament Director Alec Anderson.

"We are also pleased to have given the talented young Australian Gregg Young a Wild Card for the event. He had a an outstanding career in the Juniors, and will be well worth watching for the future."

In 2006, he claimed the Championship at the ITF Thailand Open and the Asia/Oceania Closed Championships. Last year, he was a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open, US Open Junior Championships and a semi-finalist at the Wimbledon Junior Championship.

Jones became the first Australian boy to reach the French Open Junior finals in 20 years. He was also a finalist at the Optus Nottinghill International.

After turning pro last year, he had great success on the Futures circuit, reaching the semi-finals in four events and the finals in two doubles events.

He reached the finals playing in his first Challenger event in Tasmania. This year, Jones played in his first International Series event in Sydney and his first professional Grand Slam appearance in doubles.

The XL Bermuda Open has also confirmed the legend players for this year's event, whose ranks will include all time great Roy Emerson, 1993 XL Bermuda Open champion Mikael Pernfors, two time Australian Open winner Johan Kriek and for the first time Australian Mark Woodforde most famously remembered as one half of "The Woodies", who were the ATP Doubles Team of the Year four times.

The Legend players will be running clinics for the Official Sponsors of the XL Bermuda Openand will also be staring in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Legends exhibition match on Sunday April 27th at Coral Beach.
