Wanted: Stars for End to End Walk

silver screen? End-to-End walk organisers are already thinking hard about which members of the hall of fame to invite to their 1996 fund-raiser.

And yesterday organiser Mr. Paul Rowlerson revealed some of the names being considered: Basketball superstar Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, and movie actor Michael Douglas.

The two Michaels were natural choices since they were no strangers to Bermuda, said Mr. Rowlerson.

The golf-loving Jordan, for instance, came to Bermuda "quite often'', he added.

Douglas is the son of Bermudian Mrs. Diana Darrid, the sister of late lawyer and MP Sir Bayard Dill, and is a frequent visitor to the Island.

Mr. Rowlerson explained hopes were high of getting Jordan to this year's walk, but the star's decision to return to basketball put paid to that.

And it was doubtful whether Jordan's busy basketball calendar would allow him to come in 1996.

Next year's walk had been fixed for May 4, although there was some room for flexibility.

"We would be prepared to move the date a week in either direction,'' Mr.

Rowlerson said.

The star guest at this year's walk was Bermuda's World Indoor triple jumper Brian Wellman, and in 1994 it was CBS This Morning co-anchor Paula Zahn.
