Hotels clear at the top

Hotels moved into sole possession of first place in the Second Division yesterday following a 3-0 beating of Prospect at Police Field.

Craig Critchlow started Hotels on their way in the 33rd minute and the score remained 1-0 until the interval.

Dennis Robinson doubled the advantage with a 61st minute strike and Corey Furbert added the finishing touches with a third seven minutes from time.

With former leaders Somerset held 1-1 at home by Somerset Eagles, Hotels now have a two-point cushion at the top of the standings.

Hotels have 16 points from six matches compared to 14 for the West Enders, who have played a game more.

Somerset 1 Somerset Eagles 1 A late penalty by veteran defender Duane DeRoza enabled home team Somerset Trojans to earn a share of the points in this fiery west end derby.

With just two minutes left, Trojans were awarded the disputed spot kick and DeRoza made no mistake.

Eagles had the better of the earlier exchanges and took a deserved 1-0 lead through former Trojan Shannon Morrissey after 30 minutes.

The sides battled during a bruising second half but no further goals came until DeRosa's equaliser.

BAA 0 Paget 2 Paget continued their climb from the lower reaches as they brushed aside the challenge of BAA.

Charles Wilson scored what would prove to be the winner just seven minutes into the match, smartly heading in a far-post header following a scooped cross from Terrence Christopher.

Provider Christopher turned scorer seven minutes from time, working a neat one-two with Damon Mendoza before planting the ball in the back of the net.

It was Paget's second win of the season, while BAA suffered their fourth defeat in six games.
