Workers at Bermuda Motors temporarily downed tools yesterday over a dispute with management.

Earlier in the day 30 workers, in the service and repair department who are unionised with the Bermuda Industrial Union (BIU), initiated a "go-slow" before downing tools and leaving the property.

General manager Michael Butler said some clients were turned away in the middle of the day because garage workers had left the premises but said everything was back to normal by the afternoon.

Mr. Butler said management attended a meeting with union representatives.

"I can't speak about the particulars of the dispute but there were certain issues which we felt had been addressed but the workers did not feel had been addressed," Mr. Butler said.

"We got together and talked through the issues and now everyone is back to work."

Mr. Butler said this was the first time they have taken any union action in four years and he believed the issues were now resolved.

The car dealership and repair company, based on Church Street, Hamilton, specialises in BMW, Toyota, Kia and Ford models.

Workers declined to comment as did the BIU.
