Skipper Card reels in top prize again
the high point boat trophy for the second successive year on Sunday, weighing in 3501 lbs from six fish in the popular Bacardi Rum Angling Tournament.
Although Reel Action finished 55lbs short of its total weight last year, it still emerged victorious with Bobby Rego's Sandpiper -- 1901 lbs from five fish -- taking second place.
Once again the tournament saw a woman claim the high point angler award as Kathryn Garcia, on Reel Action , hauled in three Yellowfin tuna for 1523 lbs.
With each angler only allowed one prize, top female honours went to Candy-Lee Foggo with 781 points after hooking two Yellowfin tuna. No stranger to the prize list, Foggo had the best tuna in the `A' class last year.
High points trophy in Class `B', for boats up to 27 feet, went to Danny Fox in Dansar II with 1703 points from two Yellowfin tuna over 70lbs plus a 211 lb Blackfin tuna. Runner-up was Mark Munt in Skirt Chaser with 1121 points.
The best tuna in Class `A' and the biggest fish landed in the tournament was reeled in by Mark Estis whose 921 lb Yellowfin tuna accounted for over 25 percent of the total weighed in by Reel Action . Best wahoo in the Class `A', weighing 451 lbs, was boated by Mike Fletcher on Capt. Rudy Richardson's Royal Blue .
In Class `B', high point tuna went to Paul Frias who landed a 771 lb specimen fishing on Dansar II while the wahoo prize went to David Faries for his 211 lb catch on Douglas Hassell's Predator .
