after a "pleasing'' turn-out over the weekend.

Though the number of people who attended the four-day exhibition of local business wares at Number One Shed was not as high as expected at roughly 5,000, organiser Mr. Junius Durrant of Saladmaster Bermuda felt it was a success.

He blamed the mediocre attendance on "adverse publicity''. Media coverage of the Corporation of Hamilton's alarm that goods would be sold at the Expo had not helped promote it, he said.

Mr. Durrant did not believe the $10 admission, which was reduced to $5 on the last day, deterred people.

He felt the fee was justified because Saladmaster had organised entertainment for the crowd.

Some vendors were not pleased about admission being charged, he conceded, but others understood.

He added that half-price tickets were sold in all MarketPlace stores to people who contributed to hampers for the needy.

Though the vendors did not sell great quantities of their wares, they were pleased overall about the exposure they got, he said. "They got some good promotion. People know what they have and where to find them.''
