Aground: The Government tender Bermudian rests on the rocks near Wellington Slip Road in St. George's after losing her moorings and being cast adrift during Hurricane Igor.

The boat, which is used to tender passengers on the Veendam to the Town of St. George, broke free sometime on Sunday evening.

A spokesman for Bermuda Maritime Operations said they received a call on Sunday evening about the boat.

"We got a call at 6.04 p.m. and it was from the Police advising that the Bermudian had broken free from her storm mooring and had run aground.

"We're not sure what's going to happen at the moment. She's going to have to be assessed to see what's going to happen."

St. George Mayor Kenneth Bascome said: "I saw the boat on Sunday and when I went back into town yesterday morning, it was gone. When I left, it was there.

"That's the tender that has been used to transport the passengers of the boat. It's also used as a party boat."

At last check, the boat sat at the edge of the St. George Boatyard.
