Pedestrian injured in road crash
A 59 year old visitor remains in critical condition after being struck by a motorcycle while walking along Pitts Bay Road.He was rushed to King Edward Memorial Hospital with serious head injuries after the incident which took place on Wednesday.A 27 year old man has been arrested for impaired driving in connection with the incident and is in police custody.Police are appealing for any witnesses. The victim, a balding white male of stocky build, was wearing light coloured clothing and walking along Pitts Bay Road between 10:45 and 11.10pm.Witnesses are asked to contact Police on 2950011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline (1-800-8477).A 16 year old male ended up in hospital after suffering stab wounds to his back and a collapsed lung, following an altercation at Albuoy’s Point. The teenager was reported to be in stable condition last night.Police are also appealing for witnesses to this incident which took place at approximately 4.40pm.And a 51 year old Paget man is in serious condition at King Edward Memorial Hospital after sustaining injuries in a road traffic collision yesterday afternoon.The man was heading west on his pedal cycle on South Road in Smiths when he collided with a taxi travelling east. The collision took place in the area of St Mark’s Church at around 11.35am.In other police news, a burglary in progress was interrupted when police showed up at a Church Dale Lane, Smiths residence.But the culprit managed to get away when he climbed onto the roof and jumped off. An extensive search of the area was conducted and inquires continue.Police made 11 arrests on Thursday — four persons were arrested for outstanding warrants, three for impaired driving, two for possession of a controlled drug, one for wounding and another for burglary.No major incidents were reported in connection with Cup Match, BeachFest and other social events.
