Couple to speak on social issues at St. Theresa's
The founders of an inter-faith centre which promotes peace and justice will be speaking tonight on racism, materialism and militarism at St. Theresa's Church Hall.
Dr. Jim McGinnis and his wife Kathleen will be the guest speakers at the 7.30 p.m. public forum which will explore ways to achieve peace through education, social action and prayer.
The founders and directors of the Institute for Peace and Justice in St. Louis, Missouri, spoke on the weekend at the Roman Catholic Diocese's sixth annual assembly at Mount St. Agnes where they ran workshops on a range of similar issues.
Joanne Wolmuth, chairwoman of the Peace and Justice Committee, which is putting on the forum, said the workshops received "a great turnout" and the couple "are very thought-provoking in terms of clarifying what the issues are and they call us to respond in ways that are authentic in terms of how we need to act".
She said they apply Christian morals and ethics to modern situations.
