Man jailed over drug transaction

Germal Williams, 27, of Khyber Heights Lane, pleaded guilty to the charges in Magistrates' Court.
Crown counsel Charmaine Smith told the court that at 8.45 p.m. on September 30 of last year, Police saw what looked like a drug transaction on the corner of Elliott and Court streets.
Officers spotted Williams taking something from another man.
When Williams saw the Police, he ran north on Court Street.
They shouted at him to stop but he continued running.
Williams ducked behind a car, emptying a twist of paper containing a rock like-substance onto the ground.
Police seized the substance and analysis showed the substance contained 0.09 grams cocaine with a 78 percent purity. Williams was arrested in an increased penalty zone.
Mrs. Smith told the court that at 9.30 p.m. on February 17 of this year Williams broke into the Shoe Centre on Court Street, using a rear entrance.
Once inside, he smashed a pay phone and a cash register drawer taking an undisclosed amount of cash.
Williams also stole several pairs of shoes, bringing the value of the items stolen to $762.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis sentenced him to nine months imprisonment and fined him $250 for obstructing Police, $300 for possession of cocaine, and added a $1,000 fine for Williams having the drugs in an increased penalty zone.

He was found to have at least 194 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined Smith $400.
And he told Smith that the law regarding impaired driving applied to pedal cycles as well as motorcycles and cars.

He told Police that he was allowed to be on the golf course.
He was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.
Yesterday, Senior Magistrate Will Francis asked Steede if he understood the serious nature of the charges and if he planned to continue to go back on the premises. Steede replied: "I have no reason to go there. I just go there when I'm not working.'' Anthony Dyer, 33, of North Shore Road, pleaded guilty yesterday in Magistrates' Court to impaired driving on April 15, but did not recall driving his cycle home that night.
Crown counsel Charmaine Smith told the court that Dyer was riding his cycle on North Shore Road, travelling west.
He was approaching the roundabout to go onto Palmetto Road when the car in front of him stopped suddenly, causing him to brake and fall off his cycle.
Police and an ambulance attended the scene and Dyer was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Police then summoned him from the hospital and arrested him. Dyer was then taken to Hamilton Police Station where he submitted to a blood alcohol test.
The tested showed he had at least 129 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined Dyer $400 and banned him from driving all motor vehicles for 12 months.
