Boyles punishes Trojans with late penalty
Dean Boyles kept his head to convert a twice-taken penalty six minutes from time and put Boulevard into the FA Cup semi-finals.
Referee Anthony Mouchette awarded the spot-kick after Blazers striker Dwight Warren had been upended by Richard Scott as he turned in the penalty area.
Boyles slotted home into the right-hand corner of the net and began celebrating, only for Mouchette to demand that he take it again as a team-mate had encroached into the penalty area.
This time, Boyles calmly tucked the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.
The scoreline was tough on Trojans, who dominated the second half and had enough chances to have made the late penalty irrelevant.
Haile Outerbridge caused Trojans some early problems with his dangerous in-swinging corners from the right wing.
One such flag-kick, in the seventh minute, curled out of the reach of goalkeeper Keenan Tucker, but was headed off the line by Richard Scott. Sixty seconds later, another Outerbridge corner was volleyed goalwards by Jahmel Samuels, but saved by Tucker.
As the one-way traffic continued to flow, Warren prodded wide from two yards in the 18th minute, but Blazers only had to wait another five minutes for their deserved opener.
Outerbridge was the man to break the deadlock and he did it in style. After receiving the ball on the edge of the box, he beat Dion Woolridge with a shimmy and a surge of acceleration and slipped the ball under the advancing Tucker.
Fine finish though it was, Outerbridge went too far with his celebration, removing his shirt and running towards the Trojans fans, who were not impressed. Neither was referee Mouchette, who cautioned the goalscorer.
On the half hour, two more names went into the book, Kirk Simons and Stevie Wade, after a petty, off-the-ball fracas.
Mouchette was in the thick of the action and he had to separate the two sets of players in the 31st minute, after Boulevard's Stevie Wade attempted an overhead kick and accidently booted Trojans' Arthur Tucker in the face.
Trojans enjoyed more possession in the last 10 minutes of the first half and equalised in the 37th minute.
Jelani Scott made a fine run down the right wing and crossed perfectly for the unmarked David Burchall to head home powerfully at the far post.
Trojans seized the initiative after the interval and as they piled pressure on the creaking Boulevard rearguard, a breakthrough seemed inevitable.
First, Burchall's left-footed drive was saved by diving Blazers 'keeper Mitchell Steede, then Richard Scott's low cross from the right somehow evaded a forest of legs 10 yards from goal.
The best chance came for Burchall 15 minutes from time, when he was sent clear by Trojans skipper Karl Roberts, but shot wide with only Steede to beat.
Eight minutes later, Trojans were made to pay for their wasteful finishing, when a Boulevard counter-attack earned them the decisive penalty.
