Housing, poverty to be discussed at Sustainable Development meeting

Affordable housing, social service provision, poverty and the plight of the elderly will be among the topics discussed tonight at the fourth sustainable development public meeting.

Theme Four of the Government?s draft Sustainable Development Plan ? published in July and currently under public consultation ? is Sustaining Our Communities. The meeting will be at St. Paul?s AME Centennial Church Hall, in Hamilton, from 6.30 p.m.

The panellists will be lawyer Charles Richardson, Women?s Resource Centre director Penny Dill, Berkeley Institute teacher David Chapman, XL Foundation president Gavin Arton and Larry Williams, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Bermuda. The event will be moderated by Stuart Hayward.

The meeting will be broadcast live on VSB radio 1450 and rebroadcast on TV 11 at 7:30 p.m. for one hour on Monday and Friday next week and on TV 9 at 8 p.m. for half an hour next Tuesday.
