Cabbies hit by attacks accident
The worst incident, a crash on Friday night, saw a 16-year-old Sandys Parish youth being rushed to intensive care.
Police said the accident happened near White Hill Field, Somerset, when the youth's bike was in collision with a taxi driven by a 66-year-old Pembroke man.
The taxi driver and his passenger, believed to be a visitor, escaped serious injury. But the cyclist was taken to hospital with suspected head, chest and arm injuries.
He was yesterday reported to be in a stable condition.
In a separate incident at Saturday lunchtime, a 37-year-old St. George's taxi driver was assaulted by a passenger after a dispute over the fare.
Police said the driver picked up a man and a woman, believed to be known to him, and took them from Queen Street, Hamilton to the Crow Lane roundabout.
A dispute blew up and the man punched the driver in the face.
Police are also investigating an incident in Hamilton early yesterday morning in which a taxi driver had his back window smashed by a passenger.
The driver, from Pembroke, picked up four men on Court Street and a dispute blew up. The men jumped out of the taxi and one threw a crash helmet through the window.
