Wolves Feast on Paget

Goal-hungry Wolves made a meal of Paget at Southampton Oval yesterday in this Daihatsu Second Division clash, helping themselves to seven goals, including three in the first half.

Their opponents set themselves up as easy prey, partly through some wretched goalkeeping by Paget's Neville Ball.

An own goal by Antoine Simmons in the 15th minute set Wolves on their way and from there the only question was how many the visitors would score against most inferior opposition.

Shannon Tuzo doubled the lead through a 19th-minute penalty before striker Marlon Lindsay further increased the margin four minutes later.

The lopsided trend continued after the break as Shelton Baker heaped more misery on Paget with a fourth goal.

Concluding the onslaught were Blake Outerbridge (59 minutes), Nathan Webb (67 minutes) and Lindsay, with his second, as full time neared.

Wolves, with an eye-popping 20 goals in the last three matches to their credit, thus continue to head the standings by virtue of superior goal differential to Cougars, who have played one game less.

Devonshire Cougars 5 Social Club 0 Devonshire Cougars made mincemeat of a clueless Social Club outfit at the Den, romping to an effortless 5-0 triumph and enabling them to maintain a top two position in what is rapidly becoming a two-horse race with Wolves.

Clevie Campbell maintained his scoring touch, increasing his season tally to five, with scores on either side of the half.

Surprisingly, the Bluebirds managed to hold Cougars to just a single strike in an eventful first half, but the floodgates opened with the advent of the second.

Aiding Campbell in the opponents' destruction were Shawn Smith, Troy James and Wali Salaam, each scoring once.

Somerset Eagles 7 Hamilton Parish 1 Youngster Steven Burrows was the toast of White Hill last night after he launched Somerset Eagles to a 7-1 pummelling of Hamilton Parish.

The livewire winger was at his shocking best in notching his first hat-trick at the senior level, much to the dismay of Parish.

Such was the misery that Parish's goalkeeper -- tiring of Eagles' abuse -- walked off the pitch, leaving his team-mates to struggle a man short.

Eagles led 3-1 at half-time, Chris Caisey having netted for Parish. Although the result was never in question Everett Wellman (two), Warren Iris and an own goal added further comfort in terms of the margin of victory.

An example of how far the mighty have fallen, Parish, a mere four games removed from the top flight find themselves floundering at the foot of the Second Division.

Prospect 5, Port Royal 2 Prospect exploded to their second win of the season, deflating the dreams of Port Royal during a 5-2 walloping at Police field.

The men in blue were led by two goals off the boots of Kenny Bartrum, aided by tallies from Tracy Adams, Robert Goodchild and Dwayne Leverock .

Michael Bean and Michael Furbert replied for Port Royal, who trailed 2-1 at the half, but this was only token resistance, as the scoreline suggests.

The result concluded a weekend where the average margin of victory exceeded five goals and 27 goals were scored in total from just four matches.
