Dear Sir,

With the upcoming election looming over our heads, I can't help but notice the constant articles in our prestigious newspaper. What I find particularly interesting is the pictures of the candidates of the New United Bermuda Party. What a diverse group of individuals with various race, creeds, and backgrounds.

I applaud you for following the guidelines of CURE. My question is, why don't we see this in the PLP? Now before any of the PLP go blabbering about saying that they accept anyone into the PLP, tell us first, and give us the names of the white or Portuguese, that you all have personally and professionally tried to recruit. Give us the facts on how you are for all the people of Bermuda, and not just those “who look like you”.

Dear Sir,

Do you want to know why when a prisoner gets locked up he likes it so much? It's because the prisons aren't hardcore enough. That's right, our prisons don't treat inmates who are murderers, rapists and do other heinous crimes hard enough.

The prisons should have the inmates who think they're tough break up rocks, put those same broken rocks into a wheelbarrow, then wheel it to another place and empty the wheelbarrow. After emptying the barrow load the barrow back up and wheel it back - and make sure each rock is concrete block size (big).

Heck, in other countries it's so severe a person would think twice before trying to steal seeing as how he'll lose his hands there (not saying we should go Malaysian on anybody).

And in most places, there's a such thing as a death penalty. Just out of curiosity, do lunatic criminals serve a life sentence here?

Dear Sir,

I would like to ask your permission to use your space to question the candidates of both parties.

As we now have less than three weeks to election day and I haven't seen either political party, please can you answer the following:

How do you plan to help Bermudians unite - no more black against white? Old against young?

How do you plan to make it possible for all Bermudians to own a piece of the rock ($1 million average home!).

How do you plan to keep Bermudians in work - and I am not talking about flipping hamburgers? If a Bermudian (paper or otherwise) is qualified for a management position they should get it. Instead of having to sit through an hour “interview” where they are told why they don't want the position.

How do you plan to make rents affordable for the average Bermuda. (Rents are$2,000-$3,000 per month!)

What do you propose to do about the public education system (don't tell me you are building a new school, concrete does not make a school!) (overhaul needed).

Many of our children are extremely intelligent, how do you propose to ensure they receive the higher education needed to stall the growing numbers of foreign workers (Don't rely on College or NTB!) Someone needs to audit them.

How do you propose to educate the businesses/employers on the valuable assets Bermudian workers can bring. (Rather have expats on contract easier to control).

What are your plans to reduce drugs and crime.

How do you plan to stop the actions of “wall-sitters”, have a look just down the road from our Police Commissioner's house.

How do you plan to stop one pay cheque for expatriate and lower for locals for same job. So far all I hear is vote for me, we can do all these things. No one has given the public credit by telling us “how” they plan to achieve these things. We need a government that are leaders, that are not afraid of taking a stand and that can lead Bermuda to greater heights.

I don't see this with either party, although both parties have individuals which could bring Bermuda back to a place of prosperity.
