Robin Hood hand BAA first league loss
the league on Saturday when Robin Hood beat them 3-2 in an exciting match at BAA field.
John Beardsley, Tim Perry and Mike Heromy scored for Hood and Kevin Hanson and Alistair Smith for Wanderers. The victory moved Robin Hood level with BAA on points, with the latter still holding down top spot by goal difference.
A BAA loss was what second-placed Island Rangers wanted but they missed the chance to force a three-way tie at the top when they could only manage a scoreless draw with Lobster Pot.
Fourth and fifth-placed Forties and Spinning Wheel each picked up important wins. Forties hammered last-placed North Village Rams 6-0 with Brian Fubler scoring a hat-trick and Carlos Lee (two) and Andy Robinson getting the others while Des Minors' goal was enough to give Wheel a 1-0 win over second-from-bottom Exiles.
In Group B, leaders Devonshire Colts All-Stars needed a penalty save from goalkeeper Roderick Nesbitt to preserve a point against Wolves Pack, who held their own in a 2-2 draw. Jimmy Tweed scored both All-Stars goals as they led 2-1 at the half while Sammy Lambe netted twice for Wolves.
Second-placed Fire Service went down 5-4 to bottom team Prison Officers while Park United beat Devonshire Lions 4-1. Leslie Mills scored twice and George Braithwaite and Mickey Robinson one each for Park while Gary Bascome replied for Lions.
Somerset Extros got by St. George's All-Stars 2-1 with Donnie Simmons scoring after six minutes and Gary Darrell heading home the winner in the 58th minute.
Cal Rayner pulled one back for St. George's in the 25th minute. The other match saw Valley beat KPMG 1-0 with the goal coming late in the second half.
Alliance Division action saw Group A leaders Dandy Town beat Devonshire Colts 2-1 on goals from Nirobi Smith and Ryan Evans while Colts replied through Aljame Zuill.
St. George's, in second, lost badly when PHC hammered them 4-0 at Wellington Oval with two goals in each half. Kenny Mills scored one in each half while Michael Roberts and Walter Crockwell scored the others. North Village beat Somerset 3-2.
In Group B, leaders Devonshire Cougars were much too strong for second-placed Southampton Rangers, thumping them 11-3 as Marlon Lindsay led the way with four goals. Also scoring were Dwayne Bean (two), Richard Martin (two) and Galvin Butterfield, Preston Mallory and Jamal Salaam with one each.
BAA and Boulevard drew 1-1 as Dwayne Adams went from goal stopper the night before to scorer for BAA while Vincent Tuzo netted for Boulevard. John Richmond struck twice in Prospect's 2-0 win over St. David's.
