Breaking News: Tough times ahead, warns UBP

Shadow Finance Minister Bob Richards today warned further tough times lie ahead for Bermuda as the global economy continues to struggle.

Trends in the United States show people are spending less than earlier this year, while American unemployment rates remain high, Mr. Richards told a press conference.

Claiming Bermuda tourism will feel the knock-on effect as people avoid travelling to the Island, the MP said Government needs to cut spending wherever possible.

He accused Premier Ewart Brown and Finance Minister Paula Cox of failing to heed warnings when the worldwide crisis began but said it’s not too late to act now.
