School plan gets go-ahead

Facilities manager at the Department of Education Mr. John Morbey said that all of the old barracks and part of the Ruth Seaton James auditorium will be torn down and the new senior school built in its place.
Meanwhile, the Department of Works and Engineering has been given the go-ahead for a new jetty at Ordnance Island.
Works Minister Mr. Leonard Gibbons said the old jetty, that was used by customs officials to inspect yachts, will be replaced.
The Four Star Pizza chain received conditional approval from the DAB for a restaurant on Somerset Road in Sandys. But before any construction can begin a separate application for a building permit must be made and approved.
Provisions must also be made to ensure that surface water can be disposed of efficiently.
Mr. Charles Dearing, of Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish, received planning permission for a commercial stable for a single horse.
Mrs. Margarite Harvey of Spice Hill, Warwick, had her application for a storage area denied.
Her application was refused because it did not comply with a 25 ft. setback requirement from Spice Hill Road.
